Research

Human machine interaction

Developing human machine interactions with implicit communication, which would be valuable to have this capability in robotic systems wherein a robot can detect the motivations and emotions of the person it is working with.

Pattern Recognition

Investigating various classification/ regression methods to detect affective states from physiological cues for implicit human-robot interaction, which includes signal processing, feature extraction and selection, and pattern recognition algorithm study.

Robotics

Integrating the affective information to the robotic control architecture so as to improve robot capability for the human robot interaction in a more intuitive way. It is focused on human-central application.

Machine Learning

It is important to view the human robot interaction from the robot's perspective as well as that of the human. It would be helpful to study how to facilitate robot/agent learning by affective computing.
